The new firmware adds numerous fixes and enhanced functionalities to the SPA400 - Internet Telephony Gateway with 4 FXO Ports. In order to upgrade the firmware of the SPA400, perform these two steps:
Before downloading the firmware, make sure your computer has an active Internet connection.? If your computer is plugged directly into the router and cannot get online, disconnect your router and plug your computer directly into your cable or DSL modem.
In order to go to the Linksys download page, click here and verify the model and version number of your Linksys product. For instructions, click Where's my model number?
After obtaining the model number of the Linksys product, enter the model number in the Enter Model Number field, then click GO.
Look for Locate Version Number and select the version of the Linksys product from the drop-down menu.
Note: The image may vary depending on the model number of the Linksys product.
Click Firmware in order to download the latest firmware file.
If you are using Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) and Internet Explorer, you may see a "Pop-up blocked" message in your browser Information Bar. Click the bar, select Temporarily Allow Pop-ups, and click Firmware again.
Click Save in the File Download dialog box that appears. Look for the Save As dialog box, choose a location for the file like the Desktop, and click Save. When the download is complete, click Close, if prompted.
Note: The name of the file may vary depending on the driver file of your SPA400 - Internet Telephony Gateway with 4 FXO Ports.
Double-click the zip file and extract its contents to a single folder or to the Desktop. After downloading the firmware file then update the firmware. For instructions, follow the steps below.
Note: You will need to use a utility to open and extract files from the ZIP file archive such as WinZipregTag;. In order to download WinZipregTag;, visit http://www.winzip.com. You can also use the built-in unzipping features of Windows XP to unzip the contents from the archive.
Access the SPA400 - Internet Telephony Gateway with 4 FXO Ports web-based setup page. For instructions, click here.
When the VoIP gateway's web-based setup page appears, click Administration, then Firmware Upgrade.
When the Firmware Upgrade window opens, click Browse. Look for the .bin file which contains the files necessary to upgrade the VoIP gateway's firmware.
Browse to the location where the firmware files were extracted and select the .bin file. When the file is selected, click Open.
Close Internet Explorer.
Power cycle the unit.
