This document describes the password recovery procedure for the following Cisco products:

  • EtherSwitch 10/100, 1200, 1220, 1400, 1420

  • FastSwitch 10/100, 2100, 2800

  • FastHub 100+, 300



There are no specific requirements for this document.

For the above mentioned Cisco products, there is no standard password recovery procedure. If you forget the password, the Cisco device can be accessed with the factory-installed password. Once you gain access to the device with the factory-installed password, you can change the password to a known password.

For security reasons, the factory-installed passwords are not made available on the Cisco web site. To obtain the factory-installed password, use the Cisco Technical Support contact phone number for your region.

Note: Provide the serial number and/or MAC address of the switch when you contact Cisco Technical Support. The serial number is usually located on the back of the unit. To obtain the MAC address, remove the cover and read the Ethernet address of the PROM.
