Q. How to Access the GUI of NSS4000/6000?

Note: This guide assumes that you already have your NSS4000/6000 series set up. For initial set up and configuration, please click here.

Introduction

The network storage devices, the NSS are all Linksys One ready. There are two methods to connect to the GUI of NSS4000/6000.

Method 1: Accessing the GUI of the NSS device with LinksysOne router connected.
Method 2: Accessing the GUI of the NSS device without LinksysOne router in your network.

Method 1:

Note: This procedure applies only if your NSS series device is connected to a services router (LinksysOne router) to connect to the GUI of the NSS device.

Step 1:

Log in to the services router with your user name and password.

Step 2:

Click Network.

Step 3:

Click L1 Devices on the top tool bar.

Step 4:

Click the NSS by the host name.

Step 5:

Click Show_Details.

The NSS GUI appears.


Method 2:

Note: This procedure applies only if there is no LinksysOne router in your network.

Step 1:

Go to www.cisco.com/support. Click "Downloads" on the top navigation.

Step 2:

On Choose A Product page, click on Specialty Products > Network Storage > NSS4000/6000.

Step 3:

Select the version of your product, then scroll to the bottom of the page to the "Others" section to download the Discovery Tool.

Step 4:

Select "Save to Disk" to save the file on your computer which will be used to configure the NSS devices.

Step 5:

Open the "NSS_Discovery_Tool_v1-8.iso". Install the "Discovery Tool" on your computer.

Step 6:

In order to run NSS_Discovery_Tool_v1-8.iso, extract it with Winrar or burn the ISO image into a CD and run it on your computer.

Step 7:

Once it finds NSS in your network, you can then change the IP address and click "Connect to GUI".

Or, if the IP address is within your IP scheme, then just click "Connect to GUI".

Step 8:

You will then be prompted for the user name and password of the NSS. Please enter the username and password with Username: "admin", Password: "admin".
