Overview

There are some changes to the properties of the Windows Connector installation, as well as a behavioural change that are important to note. These changes will be described in more detail below.

Changes to the Windows service name

Windows Connector versions 5.x.x to 7.3.x had their version number appended to the end of their respective Windows service names:

Starting from version 7.4.1 and beyond, the Windows service name will no longer have the version appended to the end:

Changes to the install folder

Windows Connector versions 5.x.x to 7.3.x contained a version specific folder inside their installatoin folder. Starting with 7.4.1, this folder will still be present, but with additional information appended to the folder name:

Versions 5.x.x to 7.3.x (Before)	Versions  7.4.1 and beyond (After)

Changes to registry keys

Windows Connector versions 5.x.x to 7.3.x have some registry keys that include their respective version in them. Starting with 7.4.1, these will be removed from the registry key names

Important

Please note that any 3rd party tooling or scripts that rely on any of the above properties of the Windows Connector will need to be updated once you have upgraded to version 7.4.1 or newer.

Change in how the Windows Connector registers with Windows Security Center.

Windows Connector 5.x.x to 7.3.x would register with Windows Security Center only when the TETRA engine was enabled and the first set of definitions was fully downloaded and applied.

Starting with version 7.4.1, the Windows Connector will now automatically register with Windows Security Center, regardless of the TETRA engine setting and/or definition status.
