Products Affected

Products Affected Comments
Cisco Unified Web Interaction Manager (WIM) - 4.2(5), 4.3(1), 4.3(2), 4.4(1)
Unified WIM customers that are still at a version below 4.2(5) should first upgrade to 4.2(5) or higher and then apply this update.

Problem Description

The application uses a third-party ActiveX control to support the advanced page push feature. The license associated with this ActiveX control expires every 5 years. The current version of the license file is set to expire on December 28, 2011.

This hotfix contains files that will update the ActiveX control to a newer version. An updated license file is also included.

This hotfix can be applied on all Unified EIM and WIM deployments. It is mandatory for all Unified WIM deployments, but users of other products can also apply this fix.

Background

About Collaboration

The Collaboration feature in Unified WIM allows users to push pages to customers. With simple page push, only pages with complete URLs can be pushed. To be able to push pages with relative URLs (advanced page push), an additional ActiveX control is downloaded on the customer and agent browsers.

Problem Symptoms

For deployments that need to be able to push web pages with relative URLs, you must install the hotfix BEFORE December 28, 2011.

Preparing to Install

Acquiring the Hotfix

NOTE: With 4.2(5) and 4.3(1), the Engineering Test (ET) needs to be applied.

With 4.3(2) and 4.4(1), simply go with 4.3(2) ES10 and 4.4(1) ES1 which includes the Engineering Test (ET) automatically within.

Deployments on Windows operating systems should download the Cisco_collabhotfix_windows.zip file.

NOTE: Navigate to the very bottom of the page for this file.

Creating Backup Copies of Files

Create a backup of the ie folder on your file server before you apply the hotfix.

To create a backup, complete these steps:

  1. On the file server machine, create a folder named Backup.
  2. Locate the Cisco_Home\eService\web\view\live\messaging\ie folder.
  3. Copy the ie folder, and paste it into the Backup folder you created in step 1.

Installing the Hotfix

On the File Server

  1. Copy the Cisco_collabhotfix_windows.zip file to a temporary location (for example, C:\Temp).
  2. Unzip the file.
  3. Go to the File Server folder, and navigate to \web\view\live\messaging\ie.
  4. Copy the ie folder.
  5. Navigate to Cisco_Home\eService\web\view\live\messaging.
  6. Paste the ie folder into the messaging directory. If you see a prompt about replacing files, confirm the replace action.

The ie folder should include four new files.

NOTE: In distributed configurations with web servers outside the firewall (in a DMZ), a copy of the file server is maintained on each web server machine.

You must copy the ie folder to Cisco_Home\eService\web\view\live\messaging\ on each web server machine.

On the Database Server

  1. Copy the Cisco_collabhotfix_windows.zip file to a temporary location (for example, C:\Temp).
  2. Unzip the file.
  3. Go to the Database Server folder, and locate the update_masterdb.sql and update_activedb.sql queries.
  4. Run the update_masterdb.sql on the Cisco Master database.
After the query is run, one row is affected. Do not run the query more than once.
  5. Run the update_activedb.sql on the Cisco Active database.
After the query is run, one row is affected. Do not run the query more than once.

Performing Post-Installation Tasks

No post-installation tasks are required for this hotfix. You do not need to restart the application or clear the browser and java cache on user desktops.
