CSACSE-1113-K9

Problem Description

The BIOS settings for some CS ASCSE 1113s have been improperly set to boot from the hard drive first before booting from the DVD ROM drive.

Background

During the manufacturing/testing process it was ascertained that the BIOS settings have been improperly programmed so that the appliance will always boot from the hard drive first rather than look to the DVD ROM drive first. This makes it impossible to apply patches, updates, upgrades or password recovery from the DVD ROM drive.

Problem Symptoms

The appliance ignores bootable CD/DVD media placed in the DVD ROM drive during the startup/reload process.

Workaround/Solution

Workaround:
Modify the Boot option setting in the BIOS menu.

To reset the boot options in BIOS you will need to perform the following steps with the appliance:

- Connect keyboard and screen (or use KVM) to the appliance

- Once system booted, press F2

- Enter password (acs1113)

- Arrow over to Boot Options tab

- Hit Enter to go into Boot Priority

- Select Primary Device (HDD currently)

- Arrow down to Optical / Hit Enter to select

- Press F10 and then Enter to SAVE and REBOOT

The correct boot order should be DVD drive followed by HD.

How To Identify Hardware Levels

This only affects the CS ACSSE 1113 appliance. The appliance model is clearly marked on the front of the unit.
