Problem Description

During the installation of the referenced Cisco Security Agents (CSA), a registry key for memory management is reverted to a default value for the 7845 class servers running MCS OS 2003.1.1 or 2003.1.2 versions.

Background

The memory utilization is tuned on these server models to provide the proper server operation for the larger capacity call processing. These values are crucial to proper server performance and operation.

Problem Symptoms

Various symptoms can be experienced when this value is not set properly. They can include:

- Inability to log on with the proper profile

- Inability to properly install or uninstall components (such as CSA)

- Unexplained or variable OS halts (such as BSOD)

- Improper application behaviors

Workaround/Solution

A utility has been provided to correct this registry setting on the appropriate servers. If any of the referenced CSA packages have been deployed on MCS-7845 class servers with MCS OS 2003.1.1 or 2003.1.2 variants, the following steps should be performed:

  1. Download and run the recovery utility on the target servers. Please go to the following link for Cisco Unified Communication Manager Utility downloads:

Unified Communications Manager Utilities (registered customers only)

  2. Uninstall the current version of Cisco Security Agent.

  3. Reboot the server.

  4. Install the updated Cisco Security Agent (CiscoCM-CSA-5.0.0.217-3.0.6 or later). Please go to the following link for Cisco Security Agent for Unified Communications Manager software downloads:

Unified Communications Manager & Voice Apps Crypto Software (registered customers only)

Note: If CiscoCM-CSA-5.0.0.217-3.0.5 is already loaded on the server, only step 1 and 3 are needed. However, all steps can be performed without any detrimental effect.
