Problem Description

Customers installing Cisco Unified CallManager 5.1(1b) may receive error messages during boot up regarding the BIOS level.

Background

Intel has issued a new stepping of the processor contained in the referenced servers. See Intel Product Change Notification PCN 107467-00. The CPU will be shipping from the factory no later than October 31, 2007.

During the installation of Cisco Unified CallManager 5.1(1b), customer(s) may receive an error message. This occurs if either one or both of the processors in the system is a new G0 step processor AND the currently installed BIOS are not at the minimum version 1.0.6.

Problem Symptoms

If the customer powers on the IBM x3650 server, MCS-7835-I2, or MCS-7845-I2 and receives the following error message

The BIOS does not support the current stepping of Processor P0X

while installing Cisco Unified CallManager 5.1(1b), the customer(s) will need to use the instructions provided in the Workaround/Solution section. Otherwise, the update is unnecessary.

Workaround/Solution

User should initiate the documented BIOS upgrade procedure for IBM x3650 servers, MCS-7835-I2 and MCS-7845-I2 available on the Unified Communications Manager Utilities Software Download (registered customers only) page.

The procedure and associated referenced ISO image are:
