Workaround/Solution

Workaround:

The MCS servers listed above originally shipped with Windows 2000 Server Operating System software. If there are no compatibility issues with other software releases in the network, Windows 2000 may be loaded on the affected server. The Windows 2000 PCD may be obtained by contacting Cisco and asking for an RMA.

80-8470-02 for MCS-7815-I2-ECS1

80-8470-02 for MCS-7825-I2-ECS1

80-8619-01 for MCS-7835-I2-ECS1

80-8619-01 for MCS-7845-I2-ECS1

Solution:

If Windows 2003 is required, a PCD may be RMA'd.

80-8623-02 for MCS-7815-I2-ECS1

80-8623-02 for MCS-7825-I2-ECS1

80-8623-02 for MCS-7835-I2-ECS1

80-8623-02 for MCS-7845-I2-ECS1

The same Windows 2003 PCD is used for all 4 MCS-78xx-I2-ECS1 servers.

RMA the Windows 2003 PCD.

The SVO Tool should be used to open the RMA for the replacement media. Initiate the RMA using the SVO tool and complete the sections for entitlement, sites and address. At the point where the product is selected, follow the steps shown below.

fn62841_jm1163.jpg

Use Configure a Product by Product Family method and select "Network Management Tools" then click on the Search button as shown above.

fn62841_jm11fb.jpg

In the new screen, click on "UNITY MISC SW CONFIGURATOR" option as shown above.

fn62841_jm11kt.jpg

Click on "UNITY MISC SOFTWARE" as shown above, then click on "UNITY 4.2(X) MISC SOFTWARE". From the pulldown, select "PMEDIA DVD PCD2K3 V2.2(2) IBM 15-25-35-45 - 80-8623-02" as shown below.

fn62841_jm11wj.jpg

Complete and submit the RMA. The media being replaced cannot be replaced using the Rapid Fulfillment Depots or Next Business Day depots because the media disk is burned and shipped from one of two locations, one in the United States and one in Europe.

Should the Windows 2000 PCD be needed, follow the steps above except select appropriate Windows 2000 PCD, instead of the Windows 2003 PCD.
