Products Affected

Products Affected

ICM/IPCC Enterprise - 5.0.(x), 6.0(x), 7.0(0)

ICM/IPCC Hosted - 5.0.(x), 7.0(0)

Problem Description

Upgrading from ICM version 5.0(x), 6.0(x) using the ICM 7.0 - C installer program (setup.exe) with the Upgrade All option for CallRouter B servers creates a Router A component for each Router B instance.

Background

Selecting the Upgrade All option from setup.exe allows users to upgrade the product without making any changes.

To avoid the creation of additional Router A components on the B Router during upgrade, use the Edit option instead when upgrading all B side Routers.

Problem Symptoms

Use of the Upgrade All option in setup.exe creates a Router A component for each Router B instance on the Router B server.

Workaround/Solution

Scenario One: System Has Not Been Upgraded to 7.0

  1. Run Media setup

  2. Select the ICM Instance and the RouterB component

  3. Click the Edit button on the Instance Components box of the Cisco ICM Setup dialog box

  4. Click Next button in all screens to proceed through the upgrade

  5. Finish Setup

  6. Repeat steps 1 - 5 for all the RouterB Instances

Scenario Two: Upgrade to 7.0 is Complete - steps to remove Router A instances

  1. Run Media Setup or Local ICM Setup using ICMSetup.exe located in the icm\bin folder

  2. Select the Instance and Router A component

  3. Click the Delete button on the Instance Components box

  4. Click OK on the Delete Instance Component dialog box

  5. Click No on the Confirm Directory Deletion box that displays the message Setup is about to remove the following directory:'ICMDrive':\icm\'instance'\rb

  6. Press YES to remove the directory or NO to keep it

  7. Click the Close button on the Deleting Instance Component ("instance"\RouterA) dialog box

  8. Router A is successfully deleted

NOTE:The folder ICMDriver:\icm\instance\ra is left undeleted. Delete this folder.

  9. Perform steps 1 - 8, including removal of the folder in step 8, for all Router B instances that have the additional RouterA
