CIVS-SM-CFG40 - 4.12

Cisco Video Surveillance Stream Mgr Configuration S/W (ClearConfig)

Problem Description

Several countries around the world have changed their Daylight Saving Time (DST) dates and their time zone definitions lately, or are about to change it. Specifically, as of spring of 2007, DST start and end dates for the United States will transition to comply with the U.S. Energy Policy Act of 2005. DST dates in the United States will start three weeks earlier at 2:00 A.M. on the second Sunday of March and will end one week later at 2:00 A.M. on the first Sunday of November.

Cisco Intelligent Video Surveillance solution component, the Stream Manager Configuration Software which was not updated with the new DST dates, would be one hour off, possibly causing incorrect enforcement of time-based policies, reporting and logging.

For systems that are not located in affected countries, no action should be taken, and this field notice may be disregarded for these systems.

Background

Cisco Video Surveillance Stream Manager Configuration Software component depends on correct time management for correct enforcement of time-based policies, reporting and logging.

Problem Symptoms

The DST Timechange is not working when the TimezoneOffset tag is present in the configuration SW.

Workaround/Solution

STEP 1 - CIVS-SM-CFG40, ClearConfig

Uninstall existing version and install the new version 4.13.

STEP 2 - IP Gateway Decoder

  1. Using CIVS-SM-AS40, ClearUpgrade, upgrade IP Gateway Decoder images.

  2. Using CIVS-SM-CFG40, ClearConfig, update the timezone setting on each decoder to reflect Pacific time.

  3. Verify that time/date lookups and instant replays are still working.

STEP 3 - IP Gateway Decoder

  1. Remove the serial console cables from the time master machine.

  2. Upgrade the firmware on the time master machine

  3. Using CIVS-SM-CFG40, ClearConfig, update the timezone setting on the time master machine to reflect Pacific time.

  4. Pull up CIVS-SM-CL40, ClearClient, on a PC, verify in the settings that CIVS-SM-CL40, ClearClient, will sync the PC clock.

  5. Intentionally set the clock wrong on the PC.

  6. Re-connect the console cable to the time master machine.

  7. After a minute, verify that the clock on the PC is showing correct time.

  8. Let the time master recorder run for 15 minutes then perform instant replays from cameras on that recorder. Verify that the correct video is being rendered at the correct time.

  9. Upgrade the firmware on all failover recorders.

  10. Upgrade the firmware on all remaining recorders.

  11. After recorders have been running for 30 minutes, using CIVS-SM-AS40, ClearMonitor, verify that the Retention tab is showing retention data.
