Problem Description

ICM "Installer Update B" CD, part number 80-8175-04, and Support Tools CD, part number 80-8180-01, were determined to have potential file degradation problems that required both CD images be recreated. The CDs have been revised to 80-8175-05 and 80-8180-02, respectively. In addition, the changeover from 80-8175-04 to 80-8175-05 was originally posted on September 29, 2006, but some shipments continued to receive the -04 CD until October 13, 2006.

Background

Manufacturing determined that a file degradation risk occurred with the images on CD part numbers 80-8175-04 and 80-8180-01. Replacement CDs and part numbers were implemented to enable product correction and differentiation from suspect images. Concurrent to this, an updated Field Notice 62486 was published on October 2, 2006, to notify customers that the resolution to multiple upgrade/installation issues was available via the new "ICM Installer Update C" CD, part number 80-8175-05.

Problem Symptoms

There are two problems associated with this field notice.

The first is that corrupted "Installer Update B" CDs will not load/install properly.

The second problem is that for a period of time, customers were ordering "Installer Update C" per the instructions in Field Notice 62486, but they were being shipped "Installer Update B" CDs.

Workaround/Solution

Correct replacement CDs have been re-shipped to all known customers within the affected date range, stating they should destroy old copies and use the new versions within the re-shipment.

If you have not received the new CDs and are experiencing this problem, obtain the new media kits via this Software Upgrade Request (registered customers only) page.
