Problem Description

WiSM locks up and does not generate crash file after reboot.

Background

A WiSM controller may stop functioning and become inaccessible from the console. This defect may or may not present an error message upon reboot.

Problem Symptoms

Sypmtom 1:

A WiSM controller may stop functioning and become inaccessible from the console, possibly (but not necessarily) with error messages similar to the following appearing on the console:

[00210479.63 <1155769762.482823>] NP3400_interrupt.c 3616: In 'NP3400_BSN_process_frame_rx' - could not enqueue low priority frame 

[00210479.78 <1155769762.629081>] NP3400_interrupt.c 3377: In 'NP3400_BSN_process_frame_rx' - could not enqueue LWAPP frame

Symptom 2:

WiSM controller unexpectedly reloads, with no crash log written.

Conditions:

Using a WiSM controller with any code version.

Workaround/Solution

****This defect affects WiSM customers only****

Customers experiencing this condition are urged to upgrade to one of the following software versions or greater: 3.2.171.6 or 4.0.179.11.

Customers may download software release versions 3.2.171.6 or 4.0.179.11 [filenames: SWISMK9-3-2-171-6.aes or SWISMK9-4-0-179-11.aes] to receive the release with the appropriate fix.

Registered users may download the software version [filenames: SWISMK9-3-2-171-6.aes or SWISMK9-4-0-179-11.aes] from the Cisco Wireless Services Modules Software Download (registered customers only) page.

For future reference, Wireless software release versions are obtainable at the Wireless Software Download Center (registered customers only) .

Customers who are not preprared to upgrade the software code may also use a 4400 controller as a workaround as this defect does not affect wireless controllers.
