Problem Description

The WLSE 1133 is Dead on Arrival (DOA) right out of the box.

The problems that may exist on the units are as follows:

  1. Unable to save the settings from the WLSE 1133 appliance CLI correctly.

  2. Unable to use the Recovery CD for the WLSE1133 for recovery procedures.

  3. The serial number listed in the show version command does not match the serial number printed on the box that encloses the WLSE 1133.

Note:

The WLSE1133 serial numbers listed in the Serial Numbers section of this field notice have been affected.

In order to determine your serial number, issue the show version command from the cli command line of the WLSE appliance when you logon to the appliance via SSH.

Problem Symptoms

When the customer boots up the box and logs in while attempting to configure the WLSE 1133 appliance for the first time such as:

(A) While entering all entire network information such as IP address, subnet, and so on.

(B) When attempting to save it, the message Initialization error appears.

See Operational Setup Procedures.

If the customer next tries to recover the box using the recovery CD the drive is too small message is seen on the unit.

Some WLSE appliances had an incorrect Serial Number (SN) format. The original SN label was mistakenly left on the rating label, but the outer box had the correct SN.

Details of the error message are copied here for reference.
