A timing compatibility issue was discovered on MEM-C6K-ATA-1-64M PCMCIA ATA Flash cards from a specific vendor when combined with the Catalyst 6500/7600 Supervisor2.
Customers may find that the MEM-C6K-ATA-1-64M= from a certain vendor, when used in combination with a Catalyst 6500/7600 Supervisor2, cannot access the flash card for normal read/write operations.
This specific memory has been disqualified and is no longer being used on the Catalyst 6K line, and has been superseded with a new qualified memory component. Please use the standard RMA process for replacements.
When trying to boot from the ATA flash card, customers may see a scenario similar to one of the following:
Autoboot executing command: "boot disk0:c6k222-jsv-mz.122-17d.SXB8"
open: read error...requested 0x4 bytes, got 0xfffffff8
trouble reading device magic number
loadprog: error - on file open
boot: cannot load "disk0:c6k222-jsv-mz.122-17d.SXB8"
Or, on a redundant Supervisor:
00:00:03: %PFREDUN-6-STANDBY: Initializing as STANDBY processor
00:00:03: %C6K_PLATFORM-5-MISMATCH: 'sup-bootflash' device programming
algorithm mismatch detected on SP (module: 1), formatting is recommended.

No workaround. Please replace via standard RMA process.

Looking at the back of the card as shown below, if one of the following specific part numbers are showing in the area highlighted by the blue box, then the card is eligible for replacement:
