Field Notice: Installation of DFM 2.0.1 Solaris Image Will Abort the Installation with Package Check Error when Installed on a Solaris 2.9 Server

March 24, 2005

Products Affected

CiscoWorks 2000 Device Fault Manager (DFM)

Problem Description

Installation of the DFM 2.0.1 Solaris image will abort the installation with a package check error when installed on a Solaris 2.9 server. This installation failure will happen on Solaris 2.9 with the images downloaded from CCO location before March 23, 2005. Customers running DFM 2.0.1 on Solaris 2.8 are not impacted by this problem.

The image file is not gzip tarred with the right version of Solaris tar and therefore the timestamps of some files were changed. The package check is failing when we try to install the image in Solaris 2.9.

Problem Symptoms

This problem will be observed only when installed on a Solaris 2.9 server. Installation of the DFM 2.0.1 image will abort the installation with package check errors. The error can be seen in /var/tmp/ciscoinstall.log.

The new image (DFM 2.0 Patch/IDU 2.0.1 for Solaris) can be downloaded from the CCO location. The image posted on March 23, 2005 will install successfully over Solaris 2.8/2.9.
