Products Affected

  • AIR-BR1310G-E-K9-R

Problem Description

The Aironet BR1310 is not a one to one drop-in replacement for the Aironet BR350. The Aironet BR350 has higher Tx power than the BR1310. Although both units have the same max equivalent isotropic radiated power (EIRP) . The BR350 has 50mW Tx power versus 20mW for the BR1310 in .11b data rates.

This is an issue for customers who do not want to replace installed RF hardware like RF cables or antennas or deploy 1310 outdoors.

Background

There is a large installed base of BR350s in EMEA and the service providers who own these are ready to replace 350s with 1310s.

Problem Symptoms

There is no issue if the customer has already installed BR1310s or is planning a green field deployment. The only time this is an issue is if the customer has an installed base of BR350s and wants to replace them with 1310s without changing the installed RF hardware. Not an issue if they are willing to deploy 1310 outdoors.
