Problem Description

If Microsoft update KB890175 is installed on a Windows machine, the CiscoWorks Online Help Table of Contents and Index are not displayed when using Internet Explorer 6.0 with Service Pack 1.

Background

The Microsoft security update KB890175 (MS05-001), released on January 12, 2005, disables the use of the HTML Help ActiveX control. This has affected all applications that use Cisco's Version 1 Online Help system used in CiscoWorks Common Services 2.2.

If this update is installed on your machine, the CiscoWorks Online Help Table of Contents and Index will not appear in Internet Explorer 6.0 with Service Pack 1. However, there is no issue when using Netscape Navigator.

Problem Symptoms

The CiscoWorks Online Help Table of Contents and Index are not displayed when using Internet Explorer 6.0 with Service Pack 1.

Workaround/Solution

To resolve this, follow the instructions on editing the registry found in the Microsoft Security Bulletin MS05-001.
