C6000G - WS-SVC-CMM
IOS Versions: 12.2(13)ZP and 12.3(4)XN
Cisco Communication Media Module (CMM) customers are highly recommended to upgrade to Cisco IOS® Software Release 12.3(8)XY due to security and a number of stability issues with Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(13)ZP and earlier. Upgrading to Cisco IOS Software Release 12.3(8)XY addresses the security and stability issues.
If a Cisco CMM T1/E1 or FXS port adapter is installed in a Cisco CMM running Cisco IOS Software Release 12.3(8)XY, the port adapter field programmable gate array (FPGA) will be automatically upgraded. However, it is important to follow the instructions as described in the release notes during the FPGA upgrade. Port adapters that are effected by the FPGA upgrade are:
If you would like to continue to use Cisco IOS Release 12.2(13)ZP and want to install a Cisco CMM T1/E1 or FXS port adapter with FPGA version 10, you will need to downgrade the FPGA version of the port adapter to version 2. To downgrade the FPGA version of port adapter it is important to following the downgrade steps as outlined in the Cisco IOS 12.3(8)XY release notes.
The Cisco IOS Software Release 12.3(8)XY is an early deployment release parented to 12.3(8)T release and includes all features released on CMM up to and including Cisco IOS Software Release 12.3(4)ZP. Cisco IOS 12.3(8)XY contains a new bundle 4.4.x DSPware infrastructure. Once the software is downloaded it will perform an automatic Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) upgrade to version 10 (hex 0xA) in order to take advantage of the new bundle 4.4.x DSPware infrastructure. In addition, it introduces Cisco IOS support for new features on the CMM.
Upgrade to Cisco IOS version 12.3(8)XY. For the upgrade procedures, see the Release Notes for the Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series and the Cisco 7600 Series CMM for Cisco IOS Release 12.3(8)XY . It is important that procedures are followed as described.
Note: Any interruption in the upgrade may result in an unusable board that will require a return materials authorization (RMA) .
