Field Notice: FA00336 - SMTP Gateway Connection Times Out and Stops Processing Notifications

Problem Description

Note: This Field Notice is a legacy Latitude Field Notice that has been converted to the Cisco format so the information would remain available to their customers.

There were two issues found within our SMTP Gateway that can cause notifications to fail. Here is an example of a log that would indicate such a problem. You will only see the same entry logging approximately every minute.

You also might see the SMTP service attempt its connection with the SMTP mail server and then quit unexpectedly. Basically, if your customer encounters a situation where notifications stop processing please upgrade to the latest SMTP hot fix release.

Problem Symptoms

Notifications will not be delivered for any meetings scheduled after the SMTP Gateway goes down.

Workaround/Solution

WORKAROUND

Restart the MeetingPlace SMTP and Notification Gateway services.

RESOLUTION

  1. Download the MeetingPlace SMTP 4.2.1.34 hot fix from the Customer Support Resource Center.

  2. Stop the MeetingPlace SMTP and Notification Gateway service.

  3. Run the MeetingPlaceE-mailGateway.exe to install the new SMTP gateway.

  4. Restart the gateway machine.
