Problem Description

During initial system power up or upon system reload, the Power-On-Diagnostics (POD) may show an intermittent false failure during the Backplane IDPROM test (bp-idprom-test).

Background

This issue was discovered during manufacturing system test and has been corrected in IOS release 12.1(12c)EV3.

Problem Symptoms

When applying power to or reloading an ONS 15530 running IOS 12.1.(12c)EV2 the (POD) may show a false failure when executing the Backplane IDPROM Test (bp-idprom-test). Users can also detect this failure by executing the show diag power-on from privledged exec mode.

Workaround/Solution

This issue has been resolved in IOS release 12.1(12c)EV3 (ons15530-i-mz.121-12c.EV3.bin) or later. Software can be downloaded from the Software Center on Cisco.com.

For an immediate workaround customers may disable the Power-On-Diagnostics (POD) using the following command:

Switch(config)# no diag power cpu bp-idprom-test slot 5

To enable the Power-On-Diagnostics after installing IOS 12.1(12c)EV3 type the following command:

Switch(config)# diag power cpu bp-idprom-test slot 5
