April 25, 2003

Products Affected

  • CE-510-K9

Problem Description

Some Content Engines shipped from manufacturing set to boot from floppy, but the Content Engine does not have a floppy drive, so the system cannot boot properly.

Problem Symptoms

The first boot of the Content Engine displays all of the POST messages to the console port, but stops at a blinking cursor instead of booting the ACNS image.

Workaround/Solution

  1. Boot the Content Engine with the console connected to a PC and running hyperterm.

  2. When prompted, press F1 for the Setup menu.

  3. Scroll down to the Devices and IO Ports option.

  4. Press Enter.

  5. Scroll down to Diskette Drive.

  6. Press either arrow key (right or left) to choose None.

  7. Press Esc.

  8. Scroll to Save Settings.

  9. Press Enter.

  10. Scroll to Exit Setup.

  11. Choose Yes, Save and Exit Setup Utility.

The Content Engine will restart and boot correctly.
