Comments

Cisco Element Management Framework (CEMF) 3.2 Service Pack 4

This will be fixed in CEMF 3.2 Patch 5

Problem Description

Note:?This only effects the CEMF/CNS integration.

When associating to a CNS server, if the user has invalid characters in the device ID, this will break the CNS server. Users must not use these invalid characters until a patch has been released that will fix this problem.

The valid characters are hyphen (-), underscore (_), period (.) and alphanumeric characters.

Note:?The CNS Server will not accept these invalid characters through its own GUIs.

Problem Symptoms

If an Add Device is performed on the CNS server itself, and invalid characters are entered, then the following message is seen.

Invalid Syntax

Device Name can only contain hyphen (-), underscore (_), period (.) and alphanumeric characters.

Invalid characters will break the CNS server. Users must not use invalid characters until a patch fixing this issue has been released.

Note:?The CNS Server will not accept invalid characters through it's own GUIs, this only effects the CEMF/CNS integration.

Workaround/Solution

No workaround currently identified. Using invalid characters will break the CNS server, and users must not use these invalid characters until a patch fixing the problem is released and installed.

Users who have used invalid characters and have broken their CNS servers should contact the Technical Assistance Center (TAC) to resolve their CNS server issue.
