Field Notice: Upgrade recommended for Cisco Emergency Responder to 1.1(3) to mitigate security issue

January 17, 2003

Products Affected

  • Cisco Emergency Responder Version 1.1(1)

  • Cisco Emergency Responder Version 1.1(2)

Problem Description

The security permissions created for the customized Cisco Emergency Responder (CER) Security groups are lost upon upgrading CER 1.1(1) to CER 1.1(2).

Background

The files which generate security permissions are overwritten in the Maintenance Release 1.1(2) install. The CER Maintenance Release 1.1(3) resolves this issue by reinstalling the security permissions.

Problem Symptoms

After installing CER Maintenance Release 1.1(2) on top of CER 1.1(1), the security permissions created for the four custom CER user groups are lost.

Workaround/Solution

Upgrade CER 1.1(2) to CER 1.1(3) to restore the security permissions for the CER access groups and their users.
