Problem Description

The following features have been removed from Cisco IOS® Software Release 12.2(8)T in all feature sets for the Cisco 2600 and 3600 Series:

  • LAN Extension

  • Combinet Packet Protocol (CPP)

  • HP Probe Protocol

  • Exterior Gateway Protocol (EGP)

  • IPX Netware Link State Protocol (NLSP)

  • IPX Next Hop Routing Protocol (NHRP)

  • XREMOTE

  • Decnet Phase IV

  • Banyan Vines

  • Apollo Domain

  • Xerox Network System (XNS)

Wireless Point-to-Mulipoint is only in the new "Multipoint Broadband Wireless Subscriber" (-w6) Cisco IOS software feature set.

LAN Emulation (LANE) and Multi-protocol Over ATM (MPOA) are only in the following feature sets in Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(8)T.

  • Enterprise Plus (image name "-js")

  • Enterprise Plus with H.323 Gatekeeper (image name "-jsx")

  • Enterprise Plus with Encrytion (image names "-jk8s" and "-jk9s")

  • Enterprise Plus with Firewall and Encryption (image names "-jk8o3s" and "-jk9o3s")

The following images exceed the memory capacity of the Cisco 3620. These images are deferred in Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(8)T. These Cisco 3620 IOS software feature sets can no longer be ordered in any Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2T.

  • Enterprise Plus with IPSec (image names "-jk8s" and "-jk9s")

  • Enterprise Plus with IPSec and Firewall (image names "-jk8o3s" and "-jk9o3s")

  • Enterprise Plus with H.323 GateKeeper (image name "-jsx")

  • Enterprise Plus (image name "-js"). This feature set is replaced by "-j1s3" which does not contain DEC Local Area Transport (LAT), AppleTalk, Multi-Protocol Over ATM (MPOA), or LAN Emulation (LANE).

The following Cisco IOS software feature sets do not fit in the maximum memory of the Cisco 2610-2621 series. These images require 32 MB flash and 96 MB DRAM, which is available in the Cisco 2650-2651 series. These images are not deferred.

  • Enterprise Plus with IPSec (image names "-jk8s" and "-jk9s")

  • Enterprise Plus with IPSec and Firewall (image names "-jk8o3s" and "-jk9o3s")

  • Enterprise Plus with H.323 GateKeeper (image name "-jsx")

  • Enterprise Plus (image name "-js"). You may substitute "-j1s3" which does not contain DEC Local Area Transport (LAT), AppleTalk, Multi-Protocol Over ATM (MPOA), LAN Emulation (LANE), and support for the High Density Analog Voice Network Module (NM-HDA-4FXS).

Because DECnet has been removed from all Cisco IOS software feature sets, some of them have been renamed.

Note: These feature sets are deferred in Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(8)T. These feature sets will be available in future releases of Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2T.

Note: The feature set contents are not identical to Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(2)XT as described in Field Notice 16891.

Background

These features have been removed from all Cisco 2600 and Cisco 3600 series images in order to make room for new features in Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(8)T.

This is done to ensure that most Cisco IOS software feature sets will continue to run in the memory limitations of the platforms.

For the Cisco 2600 Series, Cisco IOS software feature sets may exceed the maximum flash or RAM available in some models.

Workaround/Solution

To follow the link listed below, you must be a registered user and you must be logged in. If you require these features, use a Cisco IOS software release that has them. Refer to the Software Advisor.

Note: For the Cisco 2600 Series and the Cisco 3620, you may be able to use the "-j1s3" feature set instead of "-js".
