Problem Description

Using Cisco Transport Manager (CTM), it is not possible to set the High alarm severity and High alarm threshold value for the Input power, Output power, and Laser power performance monitoring points on the above amplifiers.

Background

The problem described in the DDTS CSCdu04185 "Threshold name incompatibility for amplifier cards" was introduced in the amplifier firmware version 2.0.1 by naming the threshold High to Power High for the IOGENs Input Power, Output Power, and Laser Power, against the definition of the original Telecommunication Managed Network Interface Document (TID).

Problem Symptoms

The main consequence of this change has been the misalignment between the CTM application and the TL1 Agent, making it impossible for CTM to manage these thresholds. The Cisco Photonics Local Terminal (CPLT) application can continue to manage the new thresholds because it dynamically discovers names.

Workaround/Solution

The solution to this problem is to change the threshold names Power High to High for the IOGENs Input Power, Output Power, and Laser Power for those Amplifier boards which present the problem. The procedure consists of the application of a script that includes a sequence of B1 commands conveyed to the amplifier board through the Cisco Photonics Toolkit (CPTK) application.

The scripts and the instructions for use are available by downloading the file 15800-AMPLI-THRESHOLD-SETTING-1.0.0.zip and associated documentation from the normal ONS15800/15801 software download location.
