Cisco VPN3000 Concentrators with Software Releases 2.5 and 2.5.1

Problem Description

Software instability will be introduced if the concentrator has to update its routing table in dynamic networks with large amounts of routing updates, resulting in a reload of the system software. The problem was introduced with the 2.5 release of software

Background

A bug was introduced in Release 2.5 which could cause the concentrator to crash while doing routing table updates. This problem has only been seen on customer nets which have a lot of routing update activity. This has been fixed in Release_2.5.2. Customers should upgrade to Release_2.5.2 when available.

Problem Symptoms

Cisco VPN3000 customers running routing protocols on the product should expect this problem with 2.5 and 2.5.1 versions of code. Generic symptoms to identify product instability include a shortened system up time and the generation of a crshdmp.txt file.

Workaround/Solution

The issue is resolved by upgrading to VPN3000 software version 2.5.2. The code is available for download at Cisco Connection On-line's Software Center.
