Cisco ONS 15454 - Timing Control Card (TCC)
Formerly Cerent 454
The Cisco ONS 15454 may experience a condition where both TCCs will show an "Active" status simultaneously. For example, both TCC's ACT LEDs will be illuminated. This is caused by a hardware failure that sets a register within the software that causes the standby TCC to become active while the failed card remains in an active state as well.
This problem was identified at a customer site and verified in Cisco's Technical Assistance Center (TAC) lab.
After a TCC switch, both TCCs become active. This causes a loss of visibility to the node (non-traffic affecting), causes random characters to scroll across the LCD, and may cause the LEDs on the fan tray assembly to flash.
If you are working with a system where both TCCs become "Active," it will be necessary to replace the TCC. Please contact the Cisco TAC at 1-877-323-7368 to work with a Customer Support Engineer to determine which card is in fact failed and to order a replacement TCC.
