CiscoWorks 2000 Product Family

Problem Description

Image distribution and Image import fails on Catalyst 4000, Catalyst 5000, Catalyst 6000 devices running Release 5.4(1) Supervisor Engine software if the Remote Copy Protocol (RCP) option is checked in the "Edit Preferences" page.

Problem Symptoms

A device running Release 5.4(1) Supervisor Engine software does not return any error in response to a RCP transfer request by the Software Management module, even though no image is transferred by the device. Since no error is returned by the device, the Software Management module does not even attempt to re-initiate the file transfer using an alternative method (TFTP) . This behavior of Software Management results in the failure of image import and image distribution tasks.

Workaround/Solution

To work around the problem, uncheck the RCP option in the "Edit Preferences" page.
