All Network IDS Appliances |
NRS-xxxx, IDS-xxxx |
Cisco Secure IDS appliances fail to boot properly when certain monitors or keyboards are attached.
Some keyboards and monitors have been found to be incompatible with the Cisco Secure IDS appliances. When attached, these devices prevent the appliance from booting and operating normally. Devices known to cause problems with the appliance are some HP keyboards, IBM model G50 monitors, and Dell E550 monitors.
During the sensor appliance boot process, the system may lock up entirely or the console/monitor may receive messages similar to the following:
"Error: Malformed Bootpath Property"
The Bootpath property...is badly formed and will be ignored."
"unable to mount a Solaris root file system for the device..."
"Error message from mount..."
For sensor appliances that shipped with a laplink cable, use a portable computer and the laplink cable to boot and configure the appliance. For sensor appliances that shipped with a keyboard, use the keyboard provided and a different monitor if necessary. Otherwise, use a different monitor and/or keyboard to perform system setup/maintenance; preferably one of the approved devices listed below:
Approved Keyboards: KeyTronic E03601QUS201-C, KeyTronic LT DESIGNER
Approved Monitors: MaxTech XT-7800, Dell D1025HT
