In Switch Probe Release 4.5.x , ART-enabled Switch Probe devices might stop collecting data when the ART and ART Summary tables fill up. As a result, the TrafficDirector ART Monitor will incorrectly show no conversations.
The following is a brief description ART monitoring:
Application Response Time (ART) Option (WS-PB-ART)
Application Response Time Management Information Base (ART MIB) extends remote monitoring 2 (RMON2) standards to measure delays between request/response sequences in application flows for popular applications such as the HTTP and FTP. The ART MIB can also be customized to support any application that uses well-known TCP port(s). Data from the ART MIB can be retrieved by monitoring applications such as TrafficDirector for monitoring, trending, and reporting purposes. Network component (flight time) of the overall application response time can be measured by instrumenting probes at both the client and application server ends with the ART software option.
In Switch Probe Release 4.5, ART-enabled Switch Probe devices might stop collecting data when the ART and ART Summary tables fill up. As a result, the TrafficDirector ART Monitor will incorrectly show no conversations.
To work around this issue, you must reduce the ART reporting, aging, and frequency parameters and minimize the protocols set for ART logging to only those you are interested in. To do so, follow these steps:
From the Admin level of the TrafficDirector application, click Remote Login to access the SwitchProbe configuration utility.
Enter 21 (ARTMIB Parameters menu) and press Enter.
Change the value of option 8 (art_report interval) to 300 (seconds).
Change the value of option 10 (art_aging_frequency) to 60 (seconds).
Enter 12 (Go Back to Main Menu) and press Enter.
Enter 12 (Reset Agent) and press Enter to reboot the SwitchProbe device.
From the TrafficDirector Configuration Manager, edit the SwitchProbe properties file.
Turn off ART Logging from all uninterested protocols.
Install the edited properties file onto the SwitchProbe device.
Repeat Steps 8 and 9 for all devices that are ARTMIB enabled and logging into TrafficDirector.
There are no associated bugs assigned to this issue.
