Cisco Manufacturing has identified that it shipped out CISCO1601-R routers with the front panel LED installed incorrectly. The LED polarity was reversed, as a result the LEDs will not illuminate.
The front panel LEDs will not light up, but otherwise the router functions perfectly. As long as the LEDs are not required by the customer, the defective routers are suitable for long term deployment.
The defect is found on some CISCO1601-R motherboards manufactured between June 15, 1999 - July 25, 1999.
Serial Numbers: JAB0324XXXX through JAB0329XXXX and JAC0324XXXX through JAC0329XXXX.
Units shipped between 6/15/99 and 07/25/99 [Serial numbers JAB0324XXXX through JAB0329XXXX and JAC0324XXXX through JAC0329XXXX] should follow the procedures as defined below:
Units that have not been opened may be returned at the customers discretion.
Units that have been deployed should be checked for non-functioning LEDs and may be returned at the customers discretion.
