A. Voiptalk allows users to register and make phone calls to other users anywhere in the world using the SIP protocol. Codian MCU, IP VCRs and IP GW products can register and make calls using Voiptalk by following these steps:
Obtain a Voiptalk login* for your Codian unit from https://www.voiptalk.org/products/signup.php. This requires an email address to which they will send an ID and password.
Go to Settings > SIP and enter the following details:
For SIP registration settings selectRegister MCU only
For SIP registrar address enter voiptalk.org
For SIP registrar type select Standard SIP
For Username enter <voiptalk id from introductory email>
For Password enter <voiptalk password from introductory email>
For SIP proxy address enter nat.voiptalk.org:5065
For Outgoing transport select UDP
For Video codec: select H.263
For Audio codec: select G.711
Click Apply changes. The Codian productwill register to Voiptalk. You can now call between this and other Voiptalk accounts in either direction by dialing the Voiptalk ID. Note: Any firewalls between the endpoint and Codian product must be SIP aware and have the relevant ports open to allow the call messages and media. (see FAQ Which TCP/UDP ports do the Codian products use?)
If you want callers to dial straight into a conference, add a conference on the MCU with the number of the Voiptalk ID. Alternatively, go to Settings > Conference and for Incoming calls to unknown number select Create new ad hoc conference. This will create a new conference with that number each time a user dials in. Note that is a device-wide setting. (Setting that field to Default auto attendant will connect people to the main auto attendant so they can navigate to different conferences.)
For IP GW users, you can dial PSTN numbers through Voiptalk by setting up a dial plan rule which routes the called number to SIP Registrar.
