Introduction

In most cases, it is easier and quicker to upgrade Cisco LocalDirector software with floppy disks. There are cases, however, in which you need to upgrade an image from a TFTP server, for instance, when using a LocalDirector model 417 which has no disk drives and can only be upgraded through the network.

Prerequisites

Requirements

There are no specific requirements for this document.

Components Used

The information in this document is based on Cisco LocalDirector.

The information in this document was created from the devices in a specific lab environment. All of the devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If your network is live, make sure that you understand the potential impact of any command.

Upgrading

Use this procedure to upgrade LocalDirector from a TFTP server:

  1. Issue the boot image command when LocalDirector is in configuration mode.

boot image image_filename tftp_server_ip [port port]

  2. To check whether the correct image was upgraded, issue the show version command.

You will see results similar to this example output:

    LocalDirector 430 Version 3.3.4

caution Caution: To upgrade LocalDirector configured for failover mode, refer to Upgrading LocalDirector in Failover Mode. Unless your LocalDirector configuration uses stateful failover, all existing connections are lost during a LocalDirector upgrade. If your site does not use stateful failover, it is recommended that you perform the upgrade procedure when the fewest users are affected.
