Compact, Robust, All-Digital Set-Tops
Scientific Atlanta's Explorer 900 Series of set-tops offers a compact, cost-efficient way to convert "Basic" or "Expanded Basic" service subscribers to an "Enhanced Basic", introductory digital service tier. The Explorer 940 model delivers power, reliability and service quality in the smallest all-digital set-top yet. It supports a wide variety of digital interactive applications and services.
Additionally, its small size and robustness enable subscribers to place it horizontally, vertically or, by using the optional IR extender, completely out of sight. All set-tops in this series support the applicable National Television Systems Committee (NTSC) standard, and comply with CableLabs, Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE), and Digital Audio/Video Council (DAVIC) standards for excellent compatibility, support and scalability.
The benefits of an all-digital network are clear. As more video service providers move toward digital simulcast, and eventually digital broadcast network environments, they will be able to:
- Increase available bandwidth for more revenue-generating, interactive applications, like pay-per-view (PPV), video-on-demand (VoD) and premium service channels.
- Reduce operating costs.
- Increase penetration of interactive applications and other digital services.
- Match satellite's "all digital" claim by delivering a superior digital package.
- Offer consumers better picture quality, as well as access to interactive applications, and other digital services that had previously been unavailable to subscribers with cable-ready TVs Accelerate the inevitable transition from analog to digital.
Whether your site offers a digital channel platform through digital simulcast or digital broadcast, the Explorer 900 Series of set-tops can be an integral part of your plans.
Note: Explorer 900 series set-tops include embedded security features; they are not designed with a CableCARD interface at this time.
