Advanced Set-Tops to Expand Your Digital Footprint
The Scientific Atlanta Explorer 3000 Series digital set-top boxes help video network operators offer digital services, traditional, non-scrambled analog services, and optional scrambled analog services—in both standard and high definition. The 3000 series enables advanced capabilities including:
- Real-time, two-way communications with a cable headend for a broad range of entertainment, information and communication services with an integrated Digital Audio/Video Council (DAVIC) modem.
- Interactive or session-based services with an out-of-band control channel.
- Video-on-demand, e-mail, Internet access and future applications supported by additional memory (from 24 - 40+ Mb, depending on model).
- Advanced protection against unauthorized access and sharing of content, with an optional, integrated analog descrambler, and an option for two IEEE 1394 Firewire ports with 5C copy protection.
The Scientific Atlanta Explorer 3000 Series supports industry standards such as OpenCable, CableLabs/SCTE, and DAVIC for future applications and longevity.
The challenge for today's video service providers is to balance expansion of all-digital services while also profiting from analog subscribers. No matter how gradually or aggressively you want to expand your digital footprint, the Explorer 3000 series of advanced set-tops is designed to support your plans.
Note : Scientific Atlanta Explorer 3000 series set-tops include embedded security features; they are not designed with a CableCARD interface at this time.
