Headend System Releases

System upgrades maximize network performance

The growing complexity of today's digital networks combined with the need to launch an ever-increasing number of advanced services create new demands on the Digital Broadband Delivery System (DBDS).

New system releases provide valuable enhancements and upgrades to DBDS functionality for:

  • Release 2.2 - support for Scientific Atlanta CableCARD module, Digital Network Control System interface upgrade, Emergency Alert System event and location code update, new scripts for troubleshooting and resetting QAMs and support for Alarm Manager 1.0.
  • Release 2.5 - support for Scientific Atlanta Overlay technology, regional control system, direct ASI for BFS and live upgrade.
  • Release 2.7 - SDV, Netcrypt bulk encryptor, staging bridges, display data on DNCS load, Solaris 10 processing support, channel maps and support for Sun Fire V890.
  • Release 3.2 - upgrades Version 3.0 for Scientific Atlanta CableCARD module, Digital Network Control System interface upgrade, Emergency Alert System event and location code update, new scripts for troubleshooting and resetting QAMs and support for Alarm Manager 1.0.
  • Release 3.5 - upgrades Version 3.2 for Scientific Atlanta Overlay technology, regional control system, direct ASI for BFS, live upgrade and DOCSIS mode for transporting set-top data.
  • Release 3.7 - upgrades Version 3.5 for SDV, Netcrypt bulk encryptor, staging bridges, display data on DNCS load, Solaris 10 processing support, channel maps and support for Sun Fire V890.
  • Release 4.0 - supports OCAP-based applications, DOCSIS-only option, CableCARD support for automated content protection and split channels, new logging utility, stage on demand, new GUI, user interface enhancements, and elimination of mirror QAMS.
  • Release 2.2 and 3.2 Service Pack 2 - supports content protection, enhanced VOD operation and DBDS backup and restore improvements.
