PRODUCT OVERVIEW

The Cisco ® Media Convergence Server 7815-I2 (MCS 7815-I2) is an entry-level server platform for Cisco IP Communications solutions. An integral part of a complete, scalable architecture for a new generation of high-quality IP voice solutions that run on enterprise data networks, the Cisco MCS 7815-I2 is an easily deployed, cost-effective solution that delivers the high performance and availability demanded by today's enterprise networks. It offers the following features:

• Intel dual-core, Pentium D, 2.8-GHz (or higher) processor with an 800-MHz front side bus (FSB) and 1 MB of Layer 2 cache

• 2 GB of installed PC2-4200 memory, error correction code (ECC), Double Data Rate 2 (DDR2), synchronous dynamic RAM (SDRAM) standard; 8 GB maximum

• Single, integrated 10/100/1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet network-interface-card (NIC) port

• 80-GB serial-advanced-technology-attachment (SATA) hard disk drive

• No floppy diskette drive installed

• 400W auto-ranging, Power Factor Correction (PFC) power supply

• Tower form factor; 5 rack units (5RU) (8.5 in./21.6 cm high) if mounted in rack orientation using optional rack-mounting kit

SUPPORTED APPLICATIONS

The Cisco MCS 7815-I2 supports the following Cisco Systems ® applications:

• Cisco Unified CallManager-Up to 300 IP phones

• Cisco Emergency Responder-Up to 6000 IP phones

• Cisco Unified Contact Center Express

• Cisco Unified IP Interactive Voice Response (IP IVR)

• Cisco Unified IP Queue Manager

• Cisco Unity® Unified Messaging-Up to 24 ports and 1000 mailboxes

• Cisco Unity Bridge-Up to 20 ports

KEY FEATURES AND BENEFITS

Performance

The Cisco MCS 7815-I2 is a robust, highly available server platform designed to support today's IP Communications applications. It uses a single Intel dual-core Pentium D, 2.8-GHz processor with an 800-MHz FSB.

Serviceability

Serviceable SATA Disk Drives

The Cisco MCS 7815-I2 is configured with one 80-GB SATA "cold-pluggable" disk drive, which is accessible to the end user through openings in the front bezel of the server. If a drive fails, the end user can schedule server downtime, power down the server, and replace the failed SATA drive by simply removing it (each drive is equipped with a front latch that positively mates the drive to the server) and replacing it with an unconfigured spare drive.

DAT Tape Drive Support

The Cisco MCS 7815-I2 can support a 36-/72-GB universal-serial-bus (USB) external Digital Audio Tape (DAT) drive (part number DAT-USB-EXT-72=) or an optional 36-/72-GB USB rack-mount DAT drive (part number DAT-USB-RM-72=). This tape drive connects through one of the USB 2.0 ports provided by the Cisco MCS 7815-I2 server.
