Cisco Systems® announces the End-of-Life (EoL) of the Cisco® OADM-P4-R1-D and OADM-P4-R3 (ONS 15800 and ONS 15801 Optical Add Drop Modules) and ADA-D. The last day to order these products is September 30, 2003. Customers will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until September 30th, 2008. Table 1 describes the End-of-Life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco products indicated above.

The initiation of End-of-Life procedures for the ONS 15800 and ONS 15801 OADM-P4-R1-D and OADM-P4-R3 is necessary due to the obsolescence of the key component within these units-the Bragg Grating Filter (BGF filter). The BGF is the key component of the OADM that enables the unit to extract dropped channels.
