Cisco Systems ® announces the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates for the Cisco ® ONS 15600 Series 4-Port 10-Gbps Long-Reach Optical Module. The last day to order the affected product is November 28, 2006. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until November 27, 2011. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the affected product. Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement.

Existing customers are not required to migrate to the Cisco ONS 15600 Series Any Service Any Port (ASAP) module which includes part numbers 15600-ASAP-CC, 15600-ASAP-1PIO, and ONS-XC-10G-L2. Customers requiring OC-192/STM-64 long-haul or long-reach optics are encouraged to migrate to Cisco ONS 15600 Release 7.2 (SONET) or 8.x (SDH) or later and replace with the Cisco ONS 15600 ASAP 10-Gbps optic modules.
