EOS/EOL Announcement for Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2S

Cisco Systems® announces the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates for Cisco IOS® Software Release 12.2S. This announcement applies only to Release 12.2S, but does not apply to Release 12.2S family releases, such as Releases 12.2SB, 12.2SE, 12.2SG, 12.2SX, and others. Release 12.2S images for the Cisco 7500 Series Routers are not included in this announcement, as the Cisco 7500 Series Router will continue to be supported in Release 12.2S beyond the dates in this bulletin. The last day to order the affected Release 12.2S images is December 12, 2006. Maintenance rebuilds and software fixes will no longer be available via Release 12.2S beyond December 12, 2007. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive technical support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until December 12, 2011.
Note: Release 12.2S images for the Cisco 7500 Series Router are not included in this announcement, as the Cisco 7500 Series Router will continue to be supported in Release 12.2S beyond the dates in this bulletin. Release 12.2(30)S is the final release of Release 12.2S.

End-of-life announcement date
The date the document that announces the end of sale and end of life of a product is distributed to the general public.
The last date to order the product through Cisco point-of-sale mechanisms. The product is no longer for sale after this date.
End of software maintenance releases date
The last date that Cisco Engineering may release any final software maintenance releases or bug fixes. After this date, Cisco Engineering will no longer develop, repair, maintain, or test the product software.
Last date of support
The last date to receive service and support for the product. After this date, all support services for the product are unavailable, and the product becomes obsolete.

End-of-Sale Cisco IOS Software Releases
The listed Cisco IOS Software Release versions are a representation of Release 12.2S Releases. Additional Release 12.2S maintenance rebuilds may occur prior to the end of software maintenance. All Release 12.2S releases including rebuilds and corresponding images (excluding those for the Cisco 7500 Series Router) are included in this End of Sale/ End of Engineering/ End of Life announcement. Release 12.2S Family Releases such as Releases 12.2SB, 12.2SE, 12.2SG, 12.SX, and others are not included in this announcement.
Product Migration Options
Customers using the Cisco ONS15500 series are encouraged to migrate to Release 12.2SV. Customers using Release 12.2S on other current Cisco IOS Software-maintained hardware are encouraged to migrate to Release 12.2(28)SB or later, or Release 12.4T or later, depending upon platform use and requirements.
Note: When upgrading to a more recent release, certain software images may not be available, hardware may or may not be supported, or memory requirements may have changed. Always consult the Cisco IOS Software Upgrade Planner and Cisco Feature Navigator to verify critical functionality on required platforms.
