PRODUCT BULLETIN NO. 2616
Cisco Systems ® announces the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates of the Cisco ® Catalyst ® 6000 24-Port FXS Analog Interface Module. This announcement does not impact Cisco ® Catalyst ® 6000 T1 and E1 Gateway and Services Module. The last day to order the Cisco Catalyst 6000
24-Port FXS Analog Interface Module is May 15, 2005. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until May 15, 2010. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco Catalyst 6000 24-Port FXS Analog Interface Module. Table 2 lists the product numbers affected by this announcement. Customers considering the Cisco Catalyst 6000 24-port FXS Analog Interface Module should purchase Cisco Communication Media Module (CMM) for their FXS analog devices.
Cisco CMM is the next generation of voice gateways and services module for Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series Switches and Cisco 7600 Series Routers. Cisco CMM is a modular line card that provides greater flexibility, higher performance, and more density in a single Cisco Catalyst 6500 slot. Cisco CMM can operate in Cisco Catalyst operating systems, hybrid, and native modes and works with all Cisco Catalyst 6500 supervisor modules. In addition to Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP) signaling with Cisco CallManager, Cisco CMM also supports additional signaling protocols such as H.323 and SIP*.
Information about Cisco CMM can be found at: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/switches/ps5718/ps708/product_data_sheet0900aecd8066426f.html. Table 3 provides relevant information for migrating from the Cisco Catalyst 6000 24-Port FXS Analog Interface Module to the Cisco Communication Media Module.
* Planned for future release.
