CiscoWorks WLSE is a network management solution for managing the entire Cisco Aironet autonomous WLAN infrastructure. CiscoWorks WLSE provides comprehensive air/radio frequency (RF) and device-management capabilities in ways that simplify deployment, reduce operational complexity, and provide administrators visibility into the WLAN. By automating several RF and device-management tasks, CiscoWorks WLSE reduces the costs and time needed for WLAN deployment, management, and security.
Table 1 describes CiscoWorks WLSE new features.
Table 1. CiscoWorks WLSE New Features
Enhanced IDS with Management Frame Protection
Management Frame Protection (MFP), which authenticates management frames between Access Points, eliminates several WLAN attacks that arise due to spoofing of authorized devices. CiscoWorks WLSE enables MFP in the network and provides visibility into network events associated with MSP detection/protection.
Enables the deployment of voice with call admission control. This configures access points to prioritize/optimize WLAN bandwidth for voice traffic. It also monitors the health of the voice network, including calls with degraded QoS and jitter/loss.
User role Integration with Cisco Secure ACS
Centralized user administration by integrating with Cisco Secure ACS. Users can be defined and mapped to a user role centrally on Cisco Secure ACS.
Reports for Wireless LAN Services Module (WLSM)
Monitor the health of the Cisco Wireless LAN Services Module (WLSM) including the clients on each mobility group, client roaming summary and Wireless LAN Domain Services (WDS) status.
Customers currently using the 1130-19 for WLSE are encouraged to update their software to CiscoWorks WLSE Software 2.13. Customers using the CiscoWorks 1105 for WLSE will not be able to run the 2.13 software and are encouraged to upgrade to the CiscoWorks 1133 for WLSE.
Customers interested in purchasing the new CiscoWorks WLSE 2.13 may place orders beginning February 27, 2006 through normal sales channels. A CiscoWorks WLSE 2.13 upgrade is available for download or through the Product Upgrade Tool at
www.cisco.com/upgrade for customers who have an earlier version of CiscoWorks WLSE. CiscoWorks WLSE contains encryption technologies controlled by the U.S. government, and users who want to download software will be prompted to apply for permission to access the encrypted files.
Table 2 lists ordering information for the CiscoWorks WLSE 2.13.
Important: CiscoWorks WLSE includes strong encryption technology that is restricted for some types of U.S. exports.
