Because of low demand, the cost of support, and the availability of good alternative solutions, Cisco Systems ® is announcing the immediate End of SW Maintenance Support for, and end of availability of, the Cisco ® TN3270 Monitor Software. This announcement does not affect the Cisco TN3270 Server or any other product in the CiscoWorks Blue suite.

The Cisco TN3270 Monitor application is a UNIX-only application to monitor statistics, get Systems Network Architecture (SNA)-related information, and view TN3270 Server events. The TN3270 Monitor is a free application that can be run standalone or as an applet launched from CiscoView (the Cisco standard for device and element management) and could be downloaded from CCO.

End of SW Maintenance Support and availability of the TN3270 Monitor is effective immediately. There are no other Cisco products affected.

There is no plan for future enhancement of the TN3270 Monitor and availability is withdrawn effective immediately. Cisco will continue to support current users through the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until September 1, 2003.

There is no existing or planned replacement for the TN3270 Monitor; however, a variety of tools and facilities exist for managing TN3270 connection. Some of these are:

• Show commands, as detailed in the Cisco IOS® command reference manual

• Management Information Bases (MIBs) for TN3270 Server

• CiscoWorks Blue Internetwork Status Monitor (ISM)

• CiscoWorks Blue SNA View

• Latest release of Tivoli NetView for OS/390

• SOLVE: Netmaster for TCP/IP

• NetView Performance Monitor (NPM) and Computer Associates' NetSpy
