Cisco's ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) provides a continuous cycle of planning, implementing, reviewing, and improving the processes and actions that are performed to meet business and environmental goals. The EMS influences all aspects of Cisco operations, products, and services, including compliance with environmental requirements and regulations, while and driving ongoing improvements to Ciscoâ€™s environmental performance.
The EMS process enables Cisco to conform to ISO 14001, an internationally accepted standard for environmental management systems. ISO 14001 drives to Cisco's minimize its negative impact on the environment and maximize the positive impact.
Cisco's ISO 14001 efforts cross multiple functions and regions. At the corporate level, senior executives on the Eco-Board drive the vision and strategy for green initiatives across the company. ISO 14001 certification of each site is performed by independent, third-party auditors.
The foundation of the EMS is Cisco's environmental policy. Corporate environmental objectives and initiatives are driven by the Eco-Board and Green Task Force and tracked through the Eco-Dashboard. Theater-specific and site-specific objectives and initiatives are developed and managed by groups called Environmental Aspect Teams and tracked through the ISO 14001 Aspect Team Dashboard. Implementation of the ISO 14001 EMS is managed by Corporate Quality as part of Ciscoâ€™s Business Management System (BMS).
