Cisco Announces Acquisition of vCider
vCider technology provides expertise in the development of network overlay technology for secure data center infrastructure virtualization.
On October 4, 2012 Cisco announced the acquisition of vCider, headquartered in Mountain View, California. vCider has expertise in the development of virtual network overlay technology for secure data center infrastructure virtualization. vCider will be integrated into Cisco's Cloud Computing organization, reporting to Lew Tucker, chief technology officer, Cloud Computing, and will play an important role in the Cisco Open Network Environment (ONE) strategy, particularly in support of OpenStack.
If you are currently a vCider user, the service will remain available for you to use through December 31, 2012 and can be accessed at my.vcider.com.
vCider's technology and talent complements Cisco's virtual network strategy and enhances customer choice by providing unique plug-ins to support physical and virtual environments that will interoperate with the OpenStack platform.
