Cisco Has Acquired Arch Rock

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Sept. 20, 2010 - Cisco today announced it has completed its acquisition of privately held Arch Rock Corporation, a pioneer in Internet Protocol-based wireless network technology for smart-grid applications.  Based in San Francisco, Arch Rock will accelerate Cisco's ability to facilitate the utility industry's transition to an open and interoperable smart grid by enabling Cisco to offer a comprehensive and highly secure advanced metering infrastructure solution that is fully IP and open-standards based.

Q. Will Cisco continue to offer Arch Rock products?
A: Cisco is acquiring Arch Rock for its pioneering wireless sensor networking technologies and will incorporate such technologies into Cisco’s end-to-end, IP-based networking portfolio for the Smart Grid accordingly. Arch Rock's Energy Optimizer and PhyNet product lines are no longer offered for sale.

A: Products at existing customers will continue to be serviced as they are today. For warranty and support requests, please contact support@archrock.com. Longer term, Arch Rock’s pioneering technologies will be sold and serviced through Cisco and its channels.
